As Events Manager at Boehringer Mannheim, Christoph took his first steps into the world of congresses and corporate events, beginning a career that would grow into more than three decades in the industry.

As Congress Manager at Sanofi, Christoph spent more than a decade organising international scientific and medical meetings. This hands-on experience gave him a lasting understanding of what clients, associations and delegates need.

Taking the helm of the Barcelona Convention Bureau, Christoph also became part of the ICCA community. That same year, he attended his first ICCA Congress in Puerto Rico – the beginning of a relationship built through participation, trust and shared work.

As Chair of the ICCA Iberian Chapter, Christoph saw how much stronger a region becomes when colleagues from different markets work side by side, exchange ideas openly and turn professional contacts into real relationships.

Re-election for a second term confirmed that the relationships built across the Chapter were lasting and that members wanted to continue moving forward together.

Elected to ICCA’s global Board of Directors at the 61st General Assembly in Krakow, Christoph brought the same belief that had guided him from the start: this industry moves forward through people, not only through processes.

Elected Treasurer of ICCA’s Global Board, Christoph took on responsibility for the association’s finances. It brought a new dimension to his understanding of the organisation. This responsibility added a new dimension to his understanding of ICCA and how the organisation works from the inside.

Barcelona’s long-standing position among the world’s leading congress destinations has never been the result of one person or one organisation. It has been built by an entire ecosystem. That is the lesson Christoph wants to bring to the ICCA Presidency: NOTHING IS BUILT ALONE.
